Tarot Fantasy Moon Card

This mystical celestial orb illuminates hidden truths about ourselves and shines a light upon the secrets of the universe. It is associated with illusion and acts as a mirror that enhances self reflection. The moon has power and pull over bodies of water on earth including the human “body” which is mainly made up of liquid.

The ancients worshipped the moon, sun and stars. Scholars, priests and shamans alike have linked it to human behavior over the centuries. Science has shown organs such as the brain can be affected by moon phases. The idea that the full moon intensifies emotion and transformation has always been present throughout history.

The werewolf myth and the female “moon time” are examples of this concept. The moon is alike to human consciousness and mood in that it progresses in phases and changes color. In addition, both have a dark side in which secret things lie waiting to be uncovered.

The moon is strongly associated with divine feminine intuition and lunar goddesses such as Selene who is also known as Luna. Death, the veil between the realms of living and dead, ghosts and magic spells are also related to the moon and the goddess Hecate.

Reversed: Mental or spiritual confusion, deep rooted fears, harbouring secrets, shadow and eclipse.
